Tucked away in the cosy Duxton Hill neighborhood, Art Ice is a specialised cafe serving a Japanese shaved ice dessert called Kakigori. The shophouse space doubles as an art gallery, and hosts local and international artists work. Galleries require special lighting to ensure that artwork appears true to the intention of the artist. To ensure gallery and museum quality lighting, ERCO fixtures were specified throughout the seating area. The service counter features a large backlit wall, providing ample indirect lighting towards the back of the shophouse. The final spectacular touch to the space is the three-story feature green wall located inside of the courtyard airwell. For this particular shophouse, the airwell is closed, meaning it is not open to the outdoor environment. The owner instead chose to feature a live green wall, with specialised grow lights to ensure the health of the plants. The integration of lighting design throughout the space not only enhances the visual impact of the artwork, but also creates an immersive environment that perfectly balances art, nature, and a top notch culinary experience.
